Garlic is a great natural way to boost your immune system which can help in our battle against those winter colds and sniffles. It’s also delicious and is a great way to add flavour without calories!! If you are worried about the garlic breath chew a bit of parsley after your meal.
This healthy pesto recipe is an easy way to add in some extra garlic to your diet – stir it through pasta for the ultimate winter warmer, stuff it inside some chicken, use it to make bruschetta for a great after school snack or pop a dollop on top of a winter soup for an extra burst of flavour.
Recipe:
A large handful of basil leaves
1 clove of garlic
A small handful (around ten) or macadamia nuts – if you don’t like macadamias replace with your favourite nuts
A tablespoon of Parmesan
A good squeeze of lemon juice to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
What to do:
Blend in your Vitamix or with a hand blender and enjoy
Top tip:
If you a going to use this straight away you don’t need to use any oil but if you are going to be storing and using throughout the week add in a small amount of olive oil to stop it drying out and pop it in a lock and lock.
